When a team of Annapolis J105 sailors (comprised of owners of 3 Annapolis boats calling their boat Velvet Mayhem Syndicate) got together and said they were going to the North American Championships in San Francisco representing the Annapolis Yacht Club as well as the Eastport Yacht Club (Annapolis), Scott agreed to Coach. Velvet Hammer owners (Brian and Kristen Robinson) bought a trailer and volunteered to use their boat.
The chosen skipper was Doug Stryker, (Mayhem), and Kevin Brown (Syndicate) became point person on the bow. Scott flew out and was immediately thrust into action for a practice session to help climb the "big breeze" learning curve. San Francisco Bay has very little in common with the Chesapeake Bay so several days of practice was necessary!
