An appropriately cared-for Dacron sail can last for years with little in the way of upkeep. In case of malfunction, they can be easily repaired. Dacron sails are not only easy to handle, but they also remain dry even in heavy rain. They don't wear out as quickly as other materials because they resist insects, rot, and decomposition.
