Symmetrical Spinnaker

Symmetrical Spinnaker

In a symmetric spinnaker, the shape on either side of the center line is identical. The halyard is what the top of the sail (the head) is fastened to. The clews are the two rounded corners at the base (though once the sail is flying, the windward corner becomes the tack). When a spinnaker pole is fastened to the windward corner, it improves their stability.
